Of Garmin's mid-range systems, the Garmin nüvi 2597LMT has proved to be the most popular as it comes with everything - 5" display, full Europe lifetime maps, Bluetooth, lifetime traffic, lane assist, junction view and so on. There are many options available in this series such as 4.3" displays, different mapping - Ireland & UK only and Western Europe, some with Bluetooth, some with traffic - so it's fair to say there is one for everyone in the audience. My only recommendation is that if you are humming & hawing about the display size, I would go for the 5". It does make a difference and the design of the device is such that it doesn't feel that big so it is portable and will fit comfortably in your pocket.

Verdict

The same specification as the Garmin nüvi 250w but comes with a large 4.3" widescreen.

Full detailed maps of Ireland, the UK, Western and Eastern Europe.

The GPS is a simple navigator - it does not come with Bluetooth®, a MP3 player or traffic information.  The screen size is 4.3" diagonal and it has an integrated high sensitivity GPS receiver.

Note that the GPS does not have an option to specify a vehicle type when calculating routes so it is not suitable for trucks and camper vans.

Unlike the nüvi 250, the nüvi 255 has two new features - "Where Am I" and HotFix.  The "Where Am I" function shows you your exact location and the nearest police station, petrol station and hospital.  The HotFix function helps acquire satellites quicker.
