Overview

This southern section of Cumbria stretches from Ambleside southwards to the coast. The map covers a long stretch of coastline, running along past Ravenglass, Walney Island and Grange Over Sands, contrasting with the eastern edge of the map which includes a corner of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, famous for its rolling hills and picturesque villages. A large area in the centre of the map is covered by the southern section of the Lake District National Park, running southwards from Ambleside and covering the lakes of Windermere and Coniston. There are numerous peaks that reward walkers and cyclists with breathtaking views of sublime scenery, making this a very popular part of the country.
