Overview

The Thames Path is unique as the only National Trail to follow a river for most of its length, from the source in a peaceful Cotswold field to the busy drama of the Thames Barrier in London. In tracing this route, visitors see the famous River Thames starting literally as a trickle, gradually growing in size and importance as it shapes the landscape through the shade of willow trees, past water meadows, across the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and through many picturesque English villages. It is a path that is accessible to all standards, and can be enjoyed by all the family. Length of path 294km/184miles.
