Overview

The southern map of Lincolnshire extends from Lincoln southwards to Stamford. A long section of North Sea coastline runs from the beaches of Skegness down into the salt marshes of The Wash, offering ideal conditions for many rare species of insect, plant and of course bird life to flourish. This important habitat is protected under EU legislation as a Special Protection Area. Further inland lies a flat, fertile region with rich soil, making this an important agricultural area and ensuring that the landscape remains largely rural and unspoiled. As a result the area is excellent countryside for rambling and cycling, though a quiet and tranquil region.
