Overview

The western map of North Yorkshire runs from Boroughbridge and Harrogate to the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. For the energetic, it is home to the classic Three Peaks Challenge, a 23.5 mile route covering the mountains of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent, with 1600m of ascent to be completed in 12 hours. The less energetic can enjoy the tumbling waters of numerous river valleys, or the tranquil, picturesque stone built hamlets and villages. This is an area of rich variety and a wealth of natural beauty, ensuring that all visitors, whether on bike or on foot, are spoiled for choice and have many reasons to keep returning.
