Overview

Orkney is an archipelago of 70 or so islands and skerries, an area of 974 square kilometres of low-lying, gently sloping and richly fertile land. Warmed by the Gulf Stream it offers stunning scenery and quiet sandy beaches. With its unique culture, dialect and heritage, the Shetland Islands are another world. A birdwatchers paradise and home to many outdoor activity centers it has a history that goes back over 5,000 years.
