Our Comment

Similar to the eTrex Vista Cx, the new HCx features a high sensitivity receiver which means that it can hold a signal in the toughest of environments.  The GPS has a bright colour display, an electronic compass that provides bearing information even while you're standing still, and a barometric altimeter that tracks changes in pressure to pinpoint your precise altitude.  You can also use the altimeter to plot barometric pressure over time, which can help you keep an eye on changing weather conditions.

The GPS is compatible with the full range of Garmin's MapSource range of cartograghy including topographic, automotive and marine mapping and has a memory card slot to take preloaded MapSource microSD cards.  Other features include long battery life and the ability to switch to automotive mode for turn-by-turn routing on roads.
