If the Garmin nüvi 3490 is the sat-nav for you, then we recommend the 3490LMT version as it has Free Lifetime Maps available for
only a few extra Euro - a one-time map update from Garmin normally costs €59.
The nüvi 2340 has the latest Ireland, UK & Western Europe mapping and extra options that make the system ideal for navigating when driving, walking or using public transport.
The nüvi 2340 features multi-stop route planning, route previews and innovative nüRoute technology with trafficTrends™ and myTrends™ to make the daily commute or travel easier than ever. Other features include traffic information (doesn't work in Ireland just yet), lane assist which tells you what lane to get into on major roads/motorways and Bluetooth® to pair with your mobile phone.
We recommend this sat-nav because it is good value and can be enhanced inexpensively using the new cityXplorer downloads which allow you to navigate selected cities around the world via trains, tubes or buses as well as on foot. The cityXplorer downloads are approx. €9 from Garmin's website and are ideal if you are going on a short city break or holiday.
